you all know i'm always keeping my eyes peeled for a fabulous windowbox to photograph. this past few days it's been so gorgeous out (80 degrees in may?!) i've been ridding my bike to the train in brooklyn heights....which is prime windowbox stalking territory. granted, many of these are professionally done by caretakers, landscapers, and florists (it is filthy rich brooklyn heights) but they are absolutely gorgeous.

i have perfectly good windowboxes in the front of the house....good except for all the cute martha stewart green paint is flaking off. i know i want to buy really good, and probably expensive ones sometime but with all the yard stuff going on (big news on that to come) i thought maybe i could freshen up these old ones with a new coat of black paint. of course, scraping off the old paint was an necessary first step....done on my birthday and sick as a dog no less. they'll look great when they're done and filled with fabulous-ness!

no i'm not a stalker...just an admirer of this gorgeous house...and especially the windowboxes...if you know me you know i love a fab windowbox...i think i took more photos of amazing windowboxes while we were in London than anything else!
anyway, we were riding bikes around brooklyn heights, i saw this house and i slammed on the brakes so hard i nearly endo-ed right over my handlebars. I'm always looking for interesting things to do in the windowboxes to cheer things up over the winter....but i've never seen this. so simple and clean, and truly a great idea. it just looked like simple birch branches stuck in the dirt (a little hard to see in the photo i know)...well i'm sure having a freaking gorgeous, flawless house with brand new custom looking window boxes and planters helps too!

just got back from a wonderful labor day weekend in London so stay tuned on a few posts about the trip!
i really loved how 'house proud' it seems people are there....it seemed that every townhouse in kensington (the neighborhood we stayed in) was immaculately maintained. and what really struck me was some of the gorgeous windowbox plantings people have. i'm very inspired for next spring with these. they don't seem to do these half-baked...some serious thought, consideration, and maintenance is involved here!
