the lower level of our building was an absolute disaster. with uneven concrete flooring, termite ridden joists, and a truly bad setup. we pulled everything out...floor, ceiling, plaster, windows, and then went to work on either sistering or replacing joists that were so lacey and see-through from termite damage, i don't know how the place was still standing. We had a new concrete floor poured and polished as it was to be our finished floor. then new windows went in and a door with glass to let in some light. we had a steal staircase frame installed and made the open 2" maple riser ourselves to install later. the walls went up along with a giant sliding barn door, and a new bathroom to complete the fabulous-ness. our good friend phil helped us tremendously with his knowledge and entertainment value. a gem, that guy!
